Hello,

we have some users outside of the building with low bandwidth connections. They connect via VPN but fairly often they complain browsing our Isilon SMB share is way too slow, and then alos copying the files they need locally can vary from slow to not working.
I was wondering if it was possible for them to access this SMB share via an FTP client, and if there would be any gain from it?
In the Web GUI protocols, there is very little FTP user access configuration. Where is that managed?

Thanks in advance?
F.

Smb + wan = latency

I highly recommend setting up an sFTP server on a VM or another machine and then mount the Isilon  . I don't recommend using the isilons native FTP server. Especially from a security perspective.

Also ideally an Aspera server for lots of file transferring over the wan would be the best route even a 100mbit license is pretty affordable and would greatly enhance productivity.
