Just ran into this strange case where one of our users is using OS X 10.9.4 to connect to their share on our X200 cluster (OneFS 7.0.2.4). In this particular instance, we had some underlying permission issues which I quickly corrected as the Isilon administrator.
Tested access to the folders via Windows and everything looked good. Then, we tried to connect via the Mac and for some reason, this particular folder (directory) would show up in Finder for a split second and then quickly disappear. Going through terminal,
we can actually get to the directory, but the directory appears empty. I had verified that all the contents in the directory had the same permissions so there's no reason why that folder would have hidden its contents from this particular user.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Google hints at issues with 10.9.x (but supposedly, those were fixed in 10.9.4) but nothing that's ever been resolved. Google also hints that this may be an issue with InDesign issues with SMB shares, but I
can't figure out who the culprit is. I would say it's the Mac's fault overall. The only fix I've been able to come up with is to manually scp the directory to a new directory (scp –r old-dir new-dir ) from within the Isilon. I'm afraid this issue will
keep reappearing (and disappearing, lol) often with these users. I'm trying to fix the permissions altogether in their share, but until then, this issue has me stumped.
Thanks for any feedback
