How do you reset the password for a cluster? An admin left and never
documented the 2 node development password we had.

Reboot a node into single-user mode and then reset the password.

dumb question, how do I put it in single user mode?

reboot the node, and when it starts loading kernel the kernel modules,
hit "spacebar" a few times. the boot loader gives you ~2 seconds.
you'll see a message something like:

"Hit [Enter] to boot immediately, or any other key for command prompt"

you should land at a prompt:

OK

type boot -s and you'll land in single user-mode.

change the password..reboot

you might need to mount -a before you run passwd
