Moulana Muslim Mehdi Chawla is a scholar of religious sciences with a specialization in Islamic Philosophy and Theology. He studied for over 10 years in the Islamic seminary of Qum. His areas of research and interest are Mysticisim (Ilm-e-Irfan), Ethics, Western Philosophy, and Comparative Religions. Sheikh Mehdi also holds multiple master degrees including a Masters Degree in Political Science and has written a thesis on Liberty in Islamic Political Philosophy and Liberalism. He has attended Dars-e-Kharij Usool and Fiqh. He also resided for 2 years in Syria to pursue Dars-e-Kharij and also to perform Islamic ministerial job.Since 2001 Imam Moulana Muslim Mehdi has been actively involved in tabligh activities including majalis, lectures, discussions, community counseling held at various venues around the world, including Canada, Pakistan, Iran, Germany, Italy, North America and the United Kingdom. He is proficient in several languages, including English, Arabic, Persian, Punjabi & Urdu.Maulana Muslim lived in upstate New York being Muslim Clergy/Chaplain for the state and religious director (Imam/Resident Aalim) at Jaffarya Center of Niagara Frontier from January 2011 until April 2016. He also served actively in local schools, universities, hospitals, churches, interfaith settings and prisons to deliver lectures and Islamic guidance. He also served as Muslim chaplain (Muslim Clergy Counselor) with Buffalo Psychiatric Center, New York State Office of Mental Health.In June 2016 he traveled from USA to pursue his PhD with Al-Mustafa International University. He is currently engaged in his dissertation after completing a PhD coursework in Tehran and Islamic seminary of Qum. He continues to teach courses and lecture on Islamic studies.Moulana Mehdi's personal interests include community building activities, understanding and solving youth issues, and organizing activities for the betterment of the community. He likes to engage with comparative philosophical and mystical traditions, inter-faith dialogue, theology and understanding the needs of community with varying backgrounds and cultures to arrange common platforms for everyone.
