1. Qn. paper has 6 questions, carrying a total of 55 marks. You can answer as much as you like; the maximum that you can score is 50. The duration of the exam is 3.5 hours. You may take 10-15 minutes extra if needed, but not more than that.

2. Very rough idea about marks distribution (may change):

Scheduling in Linux: 5 marks
Synchronisation (theory): 10 marks
Threads and synchronisation (programming): 15 marks
Memory: 10 marks
Deadlock: 10 marks
File systems: 5 marks

3. The topics that we covered in the lab on the last day (process-level synchronisation using POSIX semaphores and shared memory) are NOT included in the syllabus. But please go through the material covered during the lab before that (thread creation and synchronisation) and the corresponding worksheet carefully.

4. You are permitted to bring to the exam one A4-sized ‘cheatsheet’ that is written / printed on both sides.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Even though these topics are NOT included in the syllabus, I have added a brief note to the slides explaining the use of the offset parameter in the mmap function.

Yes, there will be numerical type problems from both memory management and file systems.

2021 was a COVID year, so there were 5 class tests instead of a mid-sem and end-sem. I've uploaded the 2022 papers instead (the github site should be updated soon, and the ISI page within 1-2 hours).
