02.04: Finish programming with threads; synchronisation / semaphore related system calls

04.04, 09.04, 11.04: Memory management

16.04: File systems

18.04: Deadlock

We're still one lab class short. Can you please suggest when we might have the lab?

In case you know of any class cancellations (e.g., DBMS, ML-I), please let me know.

1. Course web page has been updated: I've uploaded / updated a few example programs related to Synchronisation and Threads under the Labs section. Please make sure you understand the programs and are comfortable experimenting with them by making various modifications. I've also attached an updated common.h that defines a macro for conveniently printing timestamps.

2. I would like to take classes at 11AM AND at 4PM on Wednesday (16.04), if possible. Please confirm whether we could have both classes. Assuming this is possible, the revised plan is as follows:

16.04 (Wed): Memory management (forenoon), File systems (afternoon).

18.04 (Fri): Deadlock (forenoon), Lab practice + doubt clearing (afternoon).

Sorry I always seem to be behind schedule.

sysv-shared-memory.c updated; hopefully more instructive now.

Could someone please confirm whether this plan (in particular, the extra class tomorrow morning at 11) is ok? I'm confused, because the IP-I slot seems to be on Thursdays, rather than Wednesdays.

If we're having a class at 11 tomorrow, we'll also need to fix a venue (the CVPR Seminar Room will probably not be available).

Thanks,
Mandar.

As no one has objected yet to the 11 AM class today, I believe today's morning class can accommodate everyone. However some of us were wondering if it will be possible to shift the class to 11:30 AM since we have a class test in the shift before. We apologise for not giving a timely consensus.
