June 6-7 will be an AMAZING weekend for classic bellydance music, drumming and dance in Pittsburgh!
On Friday June 6, Ishtar continues its all ages BellyDance BellyRock series with dancers Kari, Sterling and Joanna of Sadiqa. These ladies are fabulous dancers and teachers of bellydance and yoga. Ishtar is *the* band in Pittsburgh that plays the classic tunes of bellydance with their own surf rock twist. Putting the "ethno" into "ethnorock", and the "rock" into "BellyRock", Ishtar will create excitement like no other band you have ever heard!

On Saturday June 7, Mark and Melissa of Ishtar and Nick Ragheb will be teaching drum and music workshops at Your Inner Vagabond prior to Jalsah Pittsburgh VIII!

Mark will teach beginner darbuka, a class perfect for dancers and darbuka novices to understand basic rhythms. 3-4PM $15
Nick Ragheb, recently returned from music studies in Istanbul, will teach intermediate and advanced darbuka and bendir (frame drum) technique. 4-5pm $15 (cash and check only) www.nickragheb.com
Melissa Murphey will conduct the workshop: Middle Eastern Music Ensemble for ALL Instruments. Sheet music will be available to borrow or to purchase. All drummers and melody musicians regardless of instrument are welcome to attend. 5:30-7PM $15

Jalsah Pittsburgh VIII - the Ultimate bellydance community participation event! Bring your drum, bring your instrument, bring your hipscarf and PARTY all night at the Jalsah! Play the tunes and rock out with Ishtar and Nick from 8PM to 1AM!
Dance teachers: This is a great opportunity for your students to dance improvisationally to live music! Have 3 students take a workshop or purchase advance Jalsah tickets and you as their teacher can come to the Jalsah for FREE!
