All,

    I mistakenly had placed the Epiphany as January 7 when properly it is the 6th.

    I cannot at this point justify the Russian presence in this story.  I took the following from a website: "Othodox Christianity is a mentality, a set of cultural values, a way of life---not some narrow minded and pharisaical Judeo-Christian code of 'Thou shalt not.'"

    I do thank Scott for pointing out  what Clarel intends by "Runic." Nevertheless that word is there.     John G
