Dear all,

As we skipped the last session and we miss Kevin-san so far too, I must ask this question for the coming study group meeting...
Is there any volunteer for the next session?

There are several easy choices to choose from...(Let's abbreviate the book Bayesian Time Series Models to BTSM from now on)
  • PRML - Chapter 11 - Sampling Methods (with Focus on MCMC)
  • PRML - Chapter 13 - Sequential Data
  • PRML - Chapter 8 - Graphical Models (with Focus on Markov Random Fields)
  • BTSM - Chapter 1 - Inference and estimation in probabilistic time series models
  • BRML - Chapter 5 - Efficient Inference in Trees

I'm gonna give a talk about the remainder of BRML-Chapter 4 that takes about 15 minutes

Any of the topics mentioned above will unlock new topics for later discussion, and I didn't mentioned some topics intentionally because those are dedicated to Wong-san and she is busy with seminar this week.

Please send your offers as fast as you can, even if you can't cover all of the chapter for this week we can have a short meeting and the remainder of the topic could be covered next week.

Yours,

Kourosh

but, Kourosh, is there any topic that you recommend?

Great. Err, as I think there is little time for people to read for this
meeting, I recommend

PRML - Chapter 8 - Graphical Models (with Focus on Markov Random Fields)
that has many overlaps with previous topics, so we can cover them as a
recalling meeting and after that start the new topics of Markov Chain.
This topic

BRML - Chapter 5 - Efficient Inference in Trees
is good one too, but it is not that relevant to our pathway through Markov
Chain (but it is essential tool for practice)

ok. I'll choose PRML chapter8. to me, it's also a good chance to review last two chapters.

Good news. So see you all Friday after the seminar. Li-san and I will give presentation.

To Yoshida-san: It will be reat if we can have the soft copy of the presentation of BRML Chapter 4 that you give us the hardcopy before.
