Attached is copy of 2009 Bid from Western Engineering  for the Total $652,662  in sept of 2009  which was compared by  Ilyas.  Western bid was not the lowest Theis engineering and A C General was lower than Western ,  I think Riaz Bahi may still have those other bids.   Our curent bid is for  $654,226.17  which is  for half the parking lot  and price is almost same as what it was  2 years ago.   I thought it is cheaper to build now ?           Fareed siddiqui --- On Thu, 11/11/10, FAREED T. Looks like this contractor has not included the concrete and slab. We need a clarification from br Mazhar to make sure we are doing apple to apple. No problem. Will talk to Br Mazhar.

Sorry, forgot to mention in my last email. Br Mazhar is one of the contractors. Like I mentioned in one of the meetings before I am getting bids from three more. We need to do a thorough job in comparisons. Br mazhar's one bid that kind of gives an idea about the cost. Others may fluctuate around it but should not be too much. We wll find out IA.

I and Br Manzar reviewed the items (deleted the price) on Western Eng's bid.  Br Manzar is more than happy to sit with you and go over the items line by line. But he mentioned that Western Eng has not included any concrete work,   including the foundation slab, the curb gutter on site and off site. In his opinion this alone costs about $150 to $200K. that would bring western's bid to $800K to 850K. Br Manzar's bid is around $650K. We can further clarify this.

Anyway, my humble request is that we discuss the numbers and items etc in person and clarify. This will be efficient and productive. I am also preparing a bid comparison table item by item. We can sit down and review the items to make sure we are not missing anything and then plug in the numbers($$). this will give a very clear and accurate comparison of costs.

I think you are correct Western bid did not include Concrete Pad for building. However concrete work was included as an option for $70,000 see Western Bid below.  Eric's Bid of $ 749,623.90 did include all concrete work for $168,000.  

 

One important point, all the previous bids were for entire parking not partial parking.  According to Manzer in his presentation we will be saving $250,000 by using recycled crushed asphalt as a base and not paving the remainder parking lot.  If we add 250,000 to his bid of $654,226.17 that would bring Manzer's Bid to $904,226.17   

 

Manzar's estimate needs to be very clear. He needs to review his bid and carefully review the entire plan. Once he has time to review all the plans give us a complete proposal.  Some of the items in his bid are counted twice. (E.g. Item # 5 is also listed in Item # 4).  He need to be very clear in his item of work they need to be itemized separately for each item see sample attached. 

 

I think he  need to give us complete bid and include everything as shown on the plans. We should decide what to remove from the bid. This will give us the exact cost or saving of items we will be excluding at this time. 

 

It is very hard to decide when he says in his opinion it cost around 150,000 to 200,000 there is big $50,000 difference. Or we will be saving 250,000 in paving that is why it is important to get a complete bid. 

 

 Bottom line we need to real cost of each item

Agreed. That is why I am preparing a table with each item

 with cost etc. This way the ambiguity will not be there for any bid not just br Manzar.
