When setting up MFA, best option seems to be to use more user friendly software like Bitwarden and store the TOTP codes in there. And then if you need Microsoft Authenticator features, then you can use the same TOTP code in authenticator.

Lesson learned. Don't use MS authenticator. I have really struggled to recreate MFA for "joined" directories (e.g. azure portal, azure devops where I am a guest identity). As going on the MFA setup shows it for your primary organisation, not the one you're logged into.

Apple's built-in authenticator can sync to your iCloud so that it's on all of the devices you have connected to your Apple ID. That means you can use your iPad to access your Facebook or Instagram even if you lose your iPhone. The bottom line is if you're knee-deep into Apple's ecosystem, iOS 15's built-in authenticator can be a lifesaver.

You can use the iOS 15 authenticator on any website or app that supports authenticator apps as a 2FA method. I'll show you how to use the new feature by setting up 2FA on Facebook, but you can use authenticator verification codes on Discord, Dropbox, LinkedIn, and Twitter, to name just a few. The exact process of setting up and using authenticator codes for a website or app may differ from Facebook's. Still, it's usually pretty intuitive if you know your way around the settings.

The 2FA comes into action when you or someone tries accessing your account using an unrecognized device. When this happens, the website or app will prompt the person trying to access the account to provide the dynamic code from iOS's built-in authenticator. Since only you have access to that, no one can access your account even if they know your password.

Further I recognized in the Authenticator app, that my private account is only used in the authenticator app to access the cryptomator app. My onedrive account does still not require this app for login (though you could configure it to do so).

I did the following to get Google Authenticator which was already installed on an iPhone with iOS 14.6, added to a new iPad (no deleting of your account from authenticator needed, nor do you need to execute console commands) - this is really simple:

Add your credential to the YubiKey with touch or NFC-enabled tap. Hardware-backed strong two-factor authentication raises the bar for security while delivering the convenience of an authenticator app.

Users switch phones often. With other authenticator apps, when a user has a new phone or OS upgrade, IT often needs to help reset the enrollment flow and support calls rack up costs.

The Yubico Authenticator app allows for user self-service to enroll multiple secrets across various services, making this a secure and efficient solution at scale.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) has entered the news due to a change at the embattled Twitter/X. Under a February policy change, the service is forcing free users unwilling to pay the Twitter Blue subscription away from the SMS-based 2FA system, in favor of using authenticator apps.

Despite the hue and cry about it, authenticator apps are better security-wise than using SMS messages. This is what you should know about 2FA, and how to get up and running with it on one of the most popular authentication apps, Google Authenticator.

While the password for the account classifies as the "know" portion, the "have" consists of some form of verifiable token. This could take the form of a physical object, such as a YubiKey, but more commonly this refers to a mobile authenticator app or an authenticator keyfob.

In effect, the online service you're authenticating with will know what the correct code the authenticator last generated was, and so can confirm or deny whatever code you read and type into the service's log-in screen.

Google Authenticator is a very established and popular authenticator app, for quite a few reasons. For a start, it's reasonably straightforward to use, which is key when trying to encourage more people to secure their accounts in the first place.

According to iPhone leak hub Weibo (via MacRumors), Apple plans to integrate a Lightning-like authenticator chip into the USB-C ports of all iPhone 15 models. And if the company follows the playbook it used for Lighting, expect this to add significant cost to all iPhone 15 accessories and potentially even restrict performance and functionality.

Industry opinion has long argued that the control and financial benefits of the MFi Program meant Apple would never adopt USB-C on the iPhone. But integrating an authenticator chip into the port changes that, allowing Apple to comply with international law while maintaining an iron grip on accessory makers and licensing fees.

Good afternoon - One of our employees has an iPhone 6 with iOS12. Apparently iPhone 6's cannot install versions of iOS13 or newer. In order to download one of the two-factor authentication apps (ie. Google Authenticator), it requires an iOS13 or newer. Since the employee can't install an authenticator app, is there an alternative way they can log into Concur going forward?
