Ijust purchased the Amazon Firestick. In the process of setting it up the firestick screen asks me to enter my Netgear password. No matter how many times I try I always get the same error message: "connection to netgear fallied. Try again".

I assume that the firestick is trying to connect to wireless. Password would be what is setup for the wireless SSID connection. It sounds like from your description that you are trying to use the password that you would use to administer the router.

The signal showing on the firestick is very good but it keeps intermittently saying not connect to the internet every 30 seconds, one min it will be connected, next it says not connected to the internet. But the actual wifi does not drop.

I have rebooted the orbi several times, i have forgotten the wifi network on the firestick and reconnected but still no luck. i have updated the firmware on the firestick and all the netgear orbi is up to date with the firmware.

If you can still get a place on the tower and get another gateway then you should be in business. In some places, like where I live, once the tower connections are used there is a queue for getting access. Pulling the plug in frustration might have been a mistake.

I am using an Amazon firestick connected via wifi to T-Mobile home internet. Would connect to the network but no internet. Using the T-Mobile app, I saw the device was turned off. Turned it on using the app and it worked.

Chrome cast is amazing for casting apps from an Android phone, can cast desktop from PC (have to start in chrome), can use LUNA and Google Stadia, (And cast GeForce NOW) if you are into gaming. Cost is close to Firestick, features are about the same as firestick EXCEPT, it is a little more picky when using iPhone. Need to use the Google TV app, or Google Home on your iPhone to get them to talk.

Miracast is a wireless technology. It works by creating a direct connection using Wi-Fi between the two devices. You do not need a network connection, but both devices need a working Wi-Fi Module. AFAIK there is no other way to use miracast.

Just so you are aware of my setup. I have a Emby server running on a Debian machine locally. I remote into the machine to manage it and can access the server with browser and my mobile app just fine. I have external connection disabled with my local network specified using a network mask and have allocated a fixed IP to the server which iv entered into the network tab. I have purchased premiere and entered the key.

When I launch the app on my firestick it recognises the server but selecting the server will result in a failed connection, manually entering the address also comes up with the same issue. To test the connection I tried to connect via the browser within the firestick but due to it being a bad browser it wasn't letting me specify the port but the browser built into my tv does work as well as 2 other devices and my mobile app. This leads me to assume its related to the app itself but I thought id ask for advice here.

I found that sometimes if I restart the whole server machine not just the Emby server itself, I can select the server as soon as its available and it will give me the option to select my user, by the time I enter the password however it will tell me "invalid user id or password" if I restart the app then I am back to the start unable to connect to the server. I have a side thought that something else on the machine that starts up after the Emby server is causing the connection to be lost but I cant find anything that should be effecting it, especially that I can use browser just fine all throughout.

I have sideloaded the app and it seems to work fine so far. I will let you know if that changes.

Would using the mobile app effect my quality at all? such as my 4k tv being limited to a lower res or even the amount of audio channels?

Last night it worked fine but I woke up this morning to a error message saying "no content found" I restarted the app and now it won't even connect again. I tried reinstalling both the app from the fire TV store and sideloading the mobile app both refuse to connect even with full server restarts.

I don't see anything that should be restricting my connection, just to make sure iv fully disabled my firewall and still nothing. One thing i have found is that if I fully restart the machine and attempt to connect with the sideloaded app the first error I get is saying I need to update my emby server then all attempts after say that its unable to connect and I should ensure that the server is on. I'm not sure if it helps but its the only thing I can find that's consistent

Yeah I'm happy to keep using it, it seems to work better than the firestick app anyway. I just wish I could figure out these connection issues, I'm going to try install the server to my main desktop and see if I can connect to it, if I can it would lead me to believe its related to my current setup

Update, I have tried installing a separate emby server on my desktop and the firestick had the exact same behaviour, "server needs update" on first attempt and then "unable to connect" on the rest. To triple check and make sure there isn't a router setting effecting it I factory reset it but same issues are occurring.

I believe my issue is now resolved though, it seems that resetting my router has fixed it, it just took some time to take effect. Havnt had the issue since I last posted so I'm guessing you were right with it being some sort of watchdog setting.

One year later and here I write, having the same issue. UPnP and Port Forwarding both done. I can connect just fine via Mobile Data (Not WiFI) from my mobile phone and from the FireTV stick I can only connect via LAN connection. When I start a hot spot on the same phone where I can connect directly, the app on the FireTV stick does not show the server.

First I open the app and I get to the Manual or Connect screen and if I log in with connect on the PC the code is validated and nothing happens. If I manually input my external IP address the result is the same, nothing happens.

I can find nothing truly useful online or on this forum, which is surprising. A follow-up question: Does anyone from Bitdefender actually participate and answer questions here? Hoping for a response.

I'm using a Samsung sound bar with a TV and a firestick and have all sorts of audio sync issues when using Dolby digital output. The AV sync, although set in the firestick settings, would change between different media.

I have to say, I don't believe this is a Samsung issue specifically, but perhaps all devices that may use HDR over HDMI 2.0 (not HDMI 2.1)..... so older TV's etc. In my case, I struggled with a Firestick 4k and the audio sync settings required, changing from one type of media to another. I've seen other posts on this forum and wonder if others have this issue too, so thought Id post.

PROBLEM EXAMPLE

You play a film that is HDR and Dolby Surround on a TV system that *IS* HDMI 2.0 standard (18Gbps max). Because of the bandwidth limitation you need to change the AV Audio sync so the audio arrives before the image. This works great....Until....

The reason being, NON-HDR content and Stereo (or PCM) requires less bandwidth, as such there is no delay with ALL the image and audio data arriving on time at the TV. So all of a sudden the audio is therefore out of sync again and you have to re-adjust it for that app, or you just think your firestick/sound system is rubbish and give up on Dolby 5.1 or greater......

EXPLANATION (as simple as I can put it here)

When a firestick "Dynamic Range Settings" is on "Adaptive" it switches the image between Standard and HDR as it feels necessary. So a film on Netflix/Prime/Disney etc will typically play as HDR content (if your TV supports its etc) utilizing MORE of the HDMI 2.0 bandwidth. Apps like Youtube or where the content isn't HDR, will switch to a standard image, using LESS of the HDMI 2.0 bandwidth.

The issue comes in when you use a Dolby Digital 5.1 or greater standard. The image "Standard VS HDR" switching can alter the available bandwidth for audio, causing what I will describe as a race/slowdown/sync variability issue.

If you set ALL display output to "Always HDR" then even NON-HDR will be sent out as the HDR standard, so it always consumes the same amount of bandwidth, therefore always requiring the same audio delay (about 4x dots away from the right side end of the AV-Sync firestick app......in my tests at least).
