Apple really needs to bring back the clock icon on the home screen that tells you the alarm is set. My husband and I were both late for work this morning because I thought I set the alarm but guess I didn't and there's no way to know without opening the clock. My iPhone 6 would have told me from the home screen that my alarm wasn't set. Thanks, Apple. Love going backward in convenience.

I first noticed the alarm icon was not available in my control panel. I checked the settings and it's not available to add to the control panel. I've looked in the app library and used the search bar to locate the clock app (the default app) and the app is not available using either of those searches. I've restarted my phone and still no app. To clarify, the clock time shows up on my lock screen, but I can't find the default clock app that contains the alarm, timer, and stopwatch functions. I've had this phone (14 pro) for less than a month. The other thing I've noticed is that my background photo disappears and becomes a black background. I've restarted the phone twice now and both times cannot find the clock app and the background photo is the one I selected. Shortly after the restart the photo disappears to the black screen. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks for the info- I thought the app was a default and not one able to be downloaded. This thread states the clock app cannot be deleted on iOS 14 and later. However, I was able to access and restore the app via this link provided on another thread:

It sounds like you're wanting to view a digital and analog clock when in the World Clock tab of the Clocks application. This isn't a supported feature in the Clocks application, but there may be a third-party application available to install an analog clock or widget to your iPhone. These would be found by searching the App Store, and seeing what's available.

Thank you for your response, but why did it change? It did work as expected on my iPhone 7 Plus. I bought the iPhone 11 Pro Max since it was the same size thinking the world clock function would work the same.

Interesting idea, but probably not worth the few minutes of time, as the main iPhone clock at top center of screen is off, and all other clock apps that I tried show the same time as the main iPhone clock. Does the clock set via Verizon NTP server or some other clock sync?

I don't know for sure how the clock is synced, but I should think that the Verizon network is given priority, followed by the local wi-fi network if one is available. Try turning off cellular but leaving your phone connected to wifi, then restart it. Maybe something's wrong with Verizon's time sync.

last thing to mention is that you have to create the automation on your phone to call the script or flow when you close the clock app.
see the last automation in the attached screenshots.

In my case I wanted my home to do some wild stuff to improve alarm effectiveness. I added an input_button to HA and created an automation in shortcuts with the following configuration:
When: When the alarm is activated
Action:
Dictionary: entity_id: input_button.alarm_clock
Home Assistant Call input_button.press with data dictionary.
I then trigger my HA automations when the input_button is pressed, and only stop the house madness when I manually turn on a light in the kitchen

This makes me wonder if the alarm clock functionality that is built into the preinstalled iOs app from Apple including setting time or add a snooze button etc is only available for that particular app?

Unfortunately this is unavailable for developers. You can check all of alarm clock apps in AppStore, all of them are using the standard local notifications. Which will fire once and that's all. You can of course set your custom sound and change couple of options, but it will never work like one build in Clock app inside iPhone.

I really liked the clock on my screen when playing the game and am disappointed that it has been removed. I checked around a few other screenshots on the forum and it seems the clock was still around 24hrs ago.

When setting up my GFX100S I saw the option to sync the clock and it tried to do it but failed. I want to re-sync the clock but I can't find anywhere to do it. I've looked through the manual all over and I can't find any option. Does one exist? I need really accurate time synch between my iphone and GFX for a project (like same microsecond would be great) but the only option I see to set the clock is using the GUI on the camera (minute accuracy I guess).

The phone systems all have their base stations doing the same thing, and so the clock in the iPhone would be sync'd to at least 1/10 second. Probably better but it depends on the clock drift of a particular unit and how often the phone software does the syncing....

Fliqlo for Mac/Windows is a clock screensaver that allows you to make your desktop/laptop device screen look like a flip clock. It displays the time with flip animation in large white numerals against a black background. Thanks to its visibility, you can check the time even from a distance.

The latest Fliqlo version 1.9 requires macOS 14 Sonoma. There are no changes in function or appearance, but the clock display has been rewritten in SwiftUI. If you're using macOS 13 Ventura or earlier, use Fliqlo 1.8.6.

Apple's big iOS 17 iPhone update will launch this fall. I've been testing the beta version for the past few weeks, and while there's no shortage of new features, my favorite is called StandBy. It turns your iPhone into a bedside clock that you can glance at, although it's far better than just your traditional alarm clock. It will work on all phones that will get the iOS 17 update, which means the 2018 iPhone XR and iPhone XS and newer.

StandBy mode can do all sorts of things. You can, for example, prop yourself up out of bed and swipe to see upcoming calendar events, swipe to check the day's weather or view notifications at a glance. Or, if you're more of a traditionalist, you can just let it sit on your bedside table showing off various clock faces.

You don't have to worry about a bright screen keeping you up, either. Your iPhone will automatically dim the screen, or turn the display off, when you switch off the lights. And Apple borrowed a feature from the Apple Watch Ultra: There's a special night mode that changes the clock, calendar and text to the color red to make it less straining on the eyes.

Then, when you go to bed, just plop your iPhone on the charging stand in landscape mode, or sideways, and it'll automatically remember to turn on StandBy mode and show the last screen you used, whether it was the clock, photo gallery or calendar.

The first thing that I noticed was that the alarm clock was very intermittent, sometimes sounding at the expected time (from the phone's perspective) and sometimes not at all. Also, the notification center was not showing my scheduled alarms like it is supposed to. Next, I noticed that the phone had no signal, but it actually did. The signal bar at the top left of the phone was not displaying an accurate status. It would say "No Service" most of the time, but the phone was sometimes still able to receive calls and text messages.

The system clock was running roughly 3 minutes behind the real time, possibly caused by the phone having not been connected to the internet for well over a year. I connected to the internet and toggled the "Set Time Automatically" option on and off in order to trigger a time synchronization. The clock set itself correctly and the phone started working completely normally. All issues were fixed.

I have tried reproducing these issues by disabling the "Set Time Automatically" option and deliberately setting the system clock incorrectly, but the phone continued working as normal. Perhaps this behaviour was a result of a prolonged time with the system clock set incorrectly. At least now I have documented this, and it may be useful to someone else in the future.

Having a prominent and easily accessible digital clock on your iPhone or iPad Home Screen can be incredibly useful, especially if you have poor eyesight. In this short tutorial, we will guide you through the steps of adding a big digital clock widget to your device, ensuring you never lose track of time.

I tried about a dozen clock apps for the purpose of this article, and out of those, I found Widgets GO to be the perfect one for adding a clear, nice-looking digital clock widget to the Home Screen. In addition to that, you can also try these free iOS apps to put a digital clock on your iPhone or iPad Home Screen. The top featured image of this article shows widgets from these apps:

Is there a way to use my iPhone as a clock radio? At night, I would like to use an app like IHeart to play a particular radio station for a specific period of time and have it shut off when that time is reached.

Yes, you can do it for the most part. The Clock app is the key. You can use to set a sleep timer. I'm not 100% sure it works with that app in particular though. Try it out. -a-sleep-timer-on-your-iphone.html

With Apple's newest iOS software update, you can turn your iPhone into a smart display that's always on when you're not actively using it. So your iPhone can quickly transform into a bedside clock, digital photo frame, miniature HomePod, Live Activities tracker, widget-monitoring screen, and more.
