IRMA celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day on December 14, 2012, commemorating the International Year of Cooperatives under the UN IYC (United Nations International Year of Cooperatives) logo with the support of ISEC (IRMA Social Entrepreneurship Cell) marking another year of academic success as well as the fruitful realization of the professionalization of rural management. The celebrations were kick-started with a panel discussion on “Social Entrepreneurship and Collectives” focusing on understanding and creating business models that live up to the norms of social well-being set by the late Dr. Verghese Kurien. Panelists included Mr. Anil Gupta (Founder, National Innovation Foundation and Professor IIM Ahmedabad), Mr. RS Sodhi (MD, GCMMF), Mr. CP Mohan (Executive Director, NABARD Financial Services), and Mr. Sandeep Dixit (Member of Parliament).
The second round of panel discussions was based on “Future of Social Enterprise: A Sectoral Perspective”, Panelists included Mr. Ananth Kumar (CEO, Life Spring Hospitals), Mr. Pradeep (Senior Partner, Aavishkaar Social Fund), Smt. Kinnari Desai (BPA Ahemedabad), Mr. Sam White (CEO, Promethean Power), and Ms. Sumita Ghose, Rangsutra. The session was moderated by Prof. Girish Agrawal (Professor, Strategy Management & Entrepreneurship – IRMA)
A Social Enterprise Fair, was also organized for NGOs, cooperatives and social enterprises. There was a impressive turnout including some notable Social Enterprises like the SDRI (Social Development Research Institution), National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Aakaar Innovations, SAHAJ, MAM movies, Awaaz de and others.
The celebrations ended with a exuberant cultural function featuring a traditional Bharatnatyam dance, skit and a band performance by the students.
