Dear Fellows and Members of ISDDE, around the world,
We're very much looking forward to seeing those of you who can join
us in Berkeley in November. It promises to be a stimulating
conference. Take a look at
https://sites.google.com/view/isdde2017
if you'd like to know what we're going to be doing...
In the meantime a few bits of news:
We're absolutely delighted to announce that ISDDE 2018 will take
place in Galway in the west of Ireland. The dates are 28-31 May and
if the USA is too far for an autumn trip, perhaps you will be able
to join us in one of the most beautiful venues in Europe (still!) in
the Spring.
Other news - we have two issues of our on-line journal Educational
Designer in readiness to be published soon. If you're not aware of
it, do take a look - it's worth a read and if you are looking for a
peer-reviewed journal to submit to, do consider if it is appropriate
for you.
The Executive decided earlier in the year to submit an application
to ICMI for Affiliate Organisation status. You may know that
Burkhardt and Swan were the first recipients of the ICMI Emma
Castelnuovo Award for Excellence in the Practice of Mathematics
Education, which effectively is the first prize acknowledging the
work of educational designers. So it seemed appropriate to seek
affiliation. We hope to hear soon.
And lastly if you are working with designers in your own country and
want to tell us about local 'ISDDE' work, we'd love to hear. In the
UK we are beginning to set up a study group to meet a couple of
times a year for mutual support - if you're UK based and are
interested do let me know.
Very best wishes
Lynne
