Hi, me again. Been a while!

I recently installed the Win7 RC on one of my PCs, and ran into a
problem with iSCSICake. As it turns out, I had automatic disk
defragmentation enabled, and the Win7 box was trying to defrag the 4TB
disk set on me.

What happened was that the iSCSICake cache ended up filling up the
entire C: drive on my server, essentially killing it. I've since
created a dedicated 5GB partition just for iSCSICake caching to avoid
that particular scenario again.

My question for you guys is ... isn't the cache size supposed to be
capped at the setting we specify in Options? I have it set to 1024MB,
but this Win7 box managed to fill up more than 20GB on me. It also
filled up the entire 5GB partition I made specifically for the cache a
number of times before I figured out why Win7 was trying to write so
much data in the first place :)

I'm using v1.8.0107 (x86) on Windows Server 2008 x64.

Thanks!

The cache size in setup is for server's RAM cache. I think your
problem is that the ip file in working dir fills up the disk. The ip
file is used to store data from non-superclient and its max size is
8GB. It will be discarded after initiator disconnects. So your Win7
thinks the disk needs to be defragged every time it logon. Are you
using partition or physical drive? Can you do the defragging on your
2008 server?

Physical disks. The defragging was actually a mistake on my part, I
didn't actually want that to happen :-)

Once the client disconnected, all the space was indeed released and
life was good. However, it definately exceeded 8GB in total size, it
was closer to 18.5GB (I know I said 20 earlier) consumed by the one
Windows 7 client PC's cache.

If you get a chance to make sure the 8GB cap is indeed working in the
latest builds, awesome. Otherwise, disabling the silly automatic
defrag has cured all of my problems and everything has been working
very smoothly since my original post. Still love iSCSICake, it's a
fantastic solution that will be made even better when/if we don't need
to use physical disks for partitions > 2TB !! (hint, hint)

Thanks Jin!
