Dear Maria and Thomas, Geir, Zdenek, Vana, Chris, Elaine and Tomasz (current/incoming Officers),
I’ve worked on the 2021 payment information and instructions for the News and the web.
Please could you have a look at the 2 News pages below and at the webpage
http://www.iscb.info/Join-Us.html
and let me if it is correct (Maria) and, more importantly, clear? Any suggestions, small are large are welcome.
I admit it’s not ideal: currently, there’s more info in the News (2 pages with some info repeated...), and only the first page is on the web.
It would be best to remove repetitions and have identical info on the web and in the News. There are also a few pending questions highlighted in yellow.
This is the biggest change for years, so we need to make sure Members can understand what they have to do!
Maria will let you know when you can go ahead and actually try to make a renewal payment.
Thanks,
David

Details about Options for Paying ISCB Membership Fees |
At the Annual General Meeting in Utrecht in Aug 2015, ISCB decided to introduce special membership fees for members from Developing Countries, based on the current World Bank list.
Thus, ISCB membership fees for early registration in the year 2021 are as follows:
Please, note that early membership fees are valid until 30 Apr 2021. This date coincides deliberately with the end of the Early Bird registration period for the Lyon conference.
|
|||||||||||||||
|
Note |
If you pay after 01 Jan 2021 your 2021 membership will be active from the date you pay until 31 Dec 2021. Members of the Executive Committee and Subcommittees should renew their membership so as to be active as soon as possible from 01 Jan 2021.
|
|||||||||||||||
|
Option 0 |
Please renew your subscription by paying your
fees through the ISCB Office by logging on to If you have any query, please contact secre...@iscb.info. [If you are a National Group member, please renew your membership via your National Group Representative.] |
|||||||||||||||
|
Option 1 |
If you register for the ISCB42 Lyon 2021 conference during the Early Bird period (i.e. up to 30 Apr 2021), your early membership fees will be included in your Early Bird conference registration fee. In particular, you do not need to pay your membership fees via the ISCB Office to secure your early membership rate. This should suit those who wish to put these expenses on a grant or institutional support. Please note that the fee for joining ISCB in this way is more expensive then joining directly. |
|||||||||||||||
|
Option 2 |
From 01 May 2021, only the late membership fees will apply, whether you register for the ISCB42 Lyon 2021 conference or simply wish to keep in touch with the Society as a member. The Executive Committee decided to increase the late membership fees with an additional 20 EUR in each category shown above. We hope that you will choose to stay in touch and take advantage of early membership rates. |

Hi David.
I have checked the info on the webpage. It looks fine to me, except of this typo:
“To become a member of ISCB, please fill send an e-mail to: secre...@iscb.info ”

Dear David,
On the renewal section, I would have the password set up mentioned. Something like this:
Please note that, on your first entry to the new membership platform, you will have to reset your password. Click on the FORGOTEEN PASSWORD? Link and reset your credentials through the link to be sent to your mailbox. The same credentials will be used for access to various features of the platform in the future, as they are gradually activated.
There are a lot of information already stored on each platform account, including Conference attendance, participation to SCs, etc. and manually editing duplicates may not be the safest way.
Please let me know what you think.
Best regards,
Maria

Dear David,

OK, I will keep that in the News doc (it was very similar to the wording for the current website password request).
There are a lot of information already stored on each platform account, including Conference attendance, participation to SCs, etc. and manually editing duplicates may not be the safest way.
Please let me know what you think.
Of course. That was my comment from having had to process rejoining people on the old database L
Hi David,
ss we have agreed upon longtime ago, please, change retired to senior (65y+) alos on the website and in the news.
Cheers,
Geir
It was simply “Retired” before as we couldn’t change the categories in the old db.
Should it be “Senior(65+)/Retired” to cater for those who retire before 65 (which used to be possible)?
OK, I can make this change in the News and current website and Maria can in the new payment system and new website when it’s created.
Thanks,
David
The difficulty with “Senior(65+)/Retired” is that one may think you should be both, but “Senior(65+) or Retired” should work I believe, maybe in the opposite order.
Cheers,
Geir
