Dear ISCB representative,
I recently contacted your organization regarding my non-profit governance research. Referring to this request, I kindly probe with this e-mail into your interest to be part of the project.
Building on the input of international and independent non-profits, we can obtain interesting insights beneficial to your sector. In addition, I will prepare for each participating organization an individual report on its results, compared to the best practices as described in the literature. Your organization’s results are then also compared to the aggregated results of the other participants. A presentation can be useful to highlight the most important outcomes.
I can provide you via e-mail the informed consent and information sheet of the project, as well as an additional document that provides an overview of the different steps in the research. We can set up a small TC to discuss the details or tailor the process to your organization’s availability.
Looking forward hearing from ISCB!
If preferring not to participate, please disregard this e-mail.
Best wishes,
Emma Willems

Dear ISCB representative,
I am a PhD researcher from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) and research fellow at the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (Belgium).
The goal of my PhD is to understand the broad spectre of international non-profit governance. For this matter, I conduct independent academic research.
I contact you as your organization is an important player in the non-profit field. For my current research, I cluster organizational internal and external contingencies (structure, environmental pressures etc.) with patterns of governance in participating organizations. The study will result in aggregated and validated academic insights in the different governance patterns present in the non-profit field.
Brief abstract:
Literature on non-profit governance is extensive. Despite this, hardly any research has been carried out to links of internal and external organizational contingencies with governance patterns for non-profit organizations. This paper looks into the organizational specifications of varied international and independent non-profit organizations. After that, the organizations’ governance structures are established. Linking both analyses clusters non-profit contingencies and the related governance practices.
Practicalities:
Completing the survey takes, depending on the role in the organization, about 25 minutes maximum.
After completing the survey, the bylaws, code of conduct and other relevant governance documents will be asked to get a 360° insight in the organizational structure.
I would be honored to establish this collaboration and have ISCB as participant.
Looking forward hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Emma Willems
