You'll notice our goals section supports a high and low for all
attributes. This is because health isn't as simple as a one number
deal. For example, 1500 calories that is mostly sugars may not work
for you and your goals. But 1500 calories of something else (or better
yet, a balance of other things) might work better. Then what about
exercise? (will be added in the pro version if not sooner!) Would a
1500 calorie "target" still apply if you ran a 10 mile marathon that
day? All these things need to be taken into account.
The end result is I'd like to see a feature like this, but I think it
needs to work no matter what your day is like. Unfortunately a simple
"target" doesn't do that in any but the simplest cases. To make this
work well it should use your defined goals. Should it subtract from
your high goal or your low goal? Should it show a % left?
As you can see, there is still a lot to consider before a seemingly
simple feature can be added. I'd like this software to do this kind of
thing "right" rather than building in features that can only help a
minority of people. I see it as a universal tool rather than a
specific problem solver (if that makes sense).
