Master’s Internship Opportunity
Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience – EEG, Posturography, and Immersion
The Functional and Pathological Neurosciences Laboratory at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV) is offering a Master’s internship focused on the joint study of neural and postural responses to motivational visual stimuli, particularly alcohol- and food-related images.
This internship builds on recent work conducted within the laboratory, which has highlighted, on the one hand, distinct postural signatures in response to food and alcohol images and, on the other hand, the value of an integrative approach combining electroencephalography and posturography to investigate early perceptual and motor responses to motivational stimuli.
The aim of the internship will be to compare the postural and neural correlates associated with the processing of these images under different conditions of sensory and cognitive immersion. More specifically, the project will examine how variations in immersive context modulate early brain responses, postural adjustments, and their interaction within motivational processes. Previous work from the laboratory has shown that food- and alcohol-related stimuli may elicit distinct postural profiles, and that early EEG responses may be associated with the observed postural variations.
The selected candidate will be involved in several stages of the project, including experimental preparation and data collection, signal preprocessing, statistical analyses, and interpretation of the results. Depending on their profile and interests, the candidate may work more specifically on EEG data, posturographic indices, or the multimodal integration of these measures.
Profile sought
We are looking for a Master’s student in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, sport sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Good knowledge of statistics is expected. A strong interest in EEG analysis, posturography, signal processing, or experimental methods in neuroscience will be considered an important asset. Familiarity, even partial, with tools such as R, MATLAB, Python, EEGLAB, FieldTrip, or equivalent software will be appreciated. Methodological rigor, autonomy, seriousness, and a strong interest in experimental research are essential.
Internship conditions
6-month internship
Flexible starting period
Compensation in accordance with current French regulations
