Dear members of the Auditory List,

I would like to announce a PhD position (100%, 3 years, TV-L 13) in the
NeuroAkustik lab at the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg in
southwestern Germany (close to the beautiful black forest; around 520 km
south of Oldenburg).

The title of the research project is *“Plasticity of the auditory system
with respect to static time differences of the ear signals”.*

The project is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and
aims towards a better understanding of the effect of static interaural
time differences on sound localization and speech understanding, taking
audio-visual interaction into account. Such static time differences
typically occur in e.g. bimodal listeners or unilateral hearing aid users.

Application deadline is December 31, 2020.

*Your profile:*

  * Master’s degree in one of the fields: electrical engineering,
biomedical engineering, computer science, hearing technology and
    audiology, physics or similar
  * Good knowledge in at least one of the programming languages and
tools: MATLAB /Python, Unity/Unreal, or similar
  * Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: digital signal
    processing, audio/video/multimedia technology, statistical analysis
methods, conducting / analyzing empirical studies
  * Interest in interdisciplinary research between technology and human
    perception
  * Good communication skills and enthusiasm, independent working style
  * Good knowledge of English. In addition, fluent German, which is
necessary for working with the predominantly German-speaking test
    subjects.
