1) I made a forum proposal on May 8, 2006 for a forum to focus on
getting the word out and effectively marketing ISCABBS. My proposal
has yet to be voted on, almost 5 months later. I'm not asking for
much. While I was hoping that my proposal would actually be passed,
now all I ask is that it actually get VOTED ON.
2) The rise of Inara BBS. Even though its only been around a little
over a month, it already has nearly the userbase of ISCABBS. When a
hardware failure happened to Inara, the community pulled together and
donated funds so that new hardware could be purchased. Another user
donated hardware and bandwith so that the BBS was never down for long.
They were able to move quickly and effectively to benefit the user
community, in stark contrast to how ISCABBS moves.
3) A million details. Everything from developers not getting access
to the code changes they need to enhance client access to ISCABBS,
from the red tape and delays I had to suffer through when I wanted to
make someone a temp FM in one of the ISCABBS forums I moderate so that
they could gain some experience. That one broke my heart, because it
was a user who loved the BBS and really wanted to "give back," only to
find the opportunity stymied whenever we tried to make it happen.
I won't go so far to say that I have "lost heart" with ISCABBS --I
still have some small hopes. But it's been wearing really thin
lately.
