Official: ISB welcomes new President - Dr. Maqbool Patel

The Islamic Society of Baltimore (ISB) welcomes Dr. Maqbool Patel as President from April 1^st 2009.  Dr. Patel has previously served multiple terms as President of ISB.  ISB is amongst the major Islamic Centers in North America, with thousands of families bring affiliated with this registered organization in the State of Maryland. Dr. Patel has made remarkable contributions to education, community outreach, and faith-based initiatives in the State of Maryland. Dr. Patel works very closely with other Masajids/Organizations nationwide, and has previously co-chaired Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) conventions held at the Baltimore Convention Center.

 

Dr. Patel is among the pioneers to begin the construction of Masjid Al-Rahmah, Al-Rahmah School, and Campus housing.  He has played a vital role in the establishment of the full-time school, Quran Academy, and Sunday school.  He also participates in a variety of activities including community outreach programs, fundraisings, and gives lectures on Islam and humanity; thereby helping to InshaAllah forge relationships with other faith-based groups.

 

Professionally, Dr. Patel has extensive experience in institutions of higher education, currently serving as Associate Vice President at Coppin State University, part of the University System of Maryland. Dr. Patel is also a recipient of the Governor’s Citation, State of Maryland, for his contribution to education and community outreach programs.
