We are trying to use ISA Tab in our lab and are wondering if we can create a common account so that everyone can use the same account to login and use the same configuration. We are using the same configuration to work on the same set of meta data so asking each user to create an account does not really make sense and raises concerns about security, lost password etc.

Thanks,

Hi Bo,

What tool in particular are you using (e.g. ISAcreator or something else)?

Hi, David,

I am using ISA Creator to record meta information for MS/MS experiments.

Hi Bo,

So with ISAcreator, ISA tab files and configurations in your file system are actaully not tied with a particular account you create in the tool, so by default anybody with an account will be able to access the files and find them in your local filesystem.

The purpose of having user accounts is to do with ISAcreator remembering the history of actions a particular user has taken to aid users in populating fields in the tool by appropriately suggesting values based on previous actions. More information can be found here: http://isacreator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/using_isacreator.html#creating-a-user-account

Hope that helps, and let us know if you have any further questions!

Best/David
