Dear IPS Members,

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2026 IPS Distinguished Scholar Award is Professor Vicki Squire, of Warwick University!

Professor Squire’s work has made a major contribution to how our field conceives of mobility, asylum, humanitarianism, and the contested politics of borders. This contribution extends beyond her own research, and Professor Squire has served the IPS community as a supervisor, mentor, and, more formally, as a co-editor of International Political Sociology. Congratulations, Vicki!

We are also pleased to invite you to attend the 2026 IPS Distinguished Scholar Panel, which will be held online on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at 10am EST (14:00 GMT / 15:00 CET).

Featured on the panel are:

  • Vicki Squire (Warwick University) - Honoree

  • Philippe Frowd (University of Ottawa) - Chair

  • Alexandria Innes (City St. George’s University of London) - Participant

  • Kim Rygiel (Wilfrid Laurier University) - Participant

  • Mark Salter (University of Ottawa) - Participant

  • Jef Huysmans (Queen Mary University of London) - Participant

While the Distinguished Scholar panel is taking place outside of the ISA program this year, the format will be similar to the in-person version at the convention. The event will happen via Zoom. No pre-registration needed.
