Hello fellow Icelanders and people from all over the world.
I´m learning to be a mechanic and I stumble often on the word
"sjóða" wich means "weld" in English language.But if we get deep in
the Icelandic "sjóða" acctully means "boil".
When we boil something the materal vaporates but when we weld something
it acctully melts and get in contact chemically and the materal never
vaporates.
Now I want to find a better word for it for my use in everyday wich I
will use.
I want to excuse my English but I hope you´ll will understand this.

,,Sjóða" is the proper term for it, illogical though it may be,
ask any mechanic.

In Íslandish the word sjóða is short for logsjóða or rafsjóða
which are two methods of welding.

The word sjóða is is normally used for boil or cook
You can usually tell from the rest of the sentence
You can sjóða potatoes or sjóða fish logsjóða is to use fire to
weld and rafsjóða you use electricity and wire
