Happy 2020 Irvington! I hope your winter break was both restful and energizing!

If you headed into break thinking about ALL that time you had to get your kid registered for after school classes and then promptly got distracted by 1,000 other things and didn’t do it, you are probably not alone 😉 Luckily, there is still time to register!

Please go to www.irvingtonschool.com/afterschool to find the list of classes and links to registration flyers.

‼️Important update‼️
As we head into 2020, I just want to take this opportunity to get people thinking about next year...Michael Leeson and I have been the after school activities team for quite a handful of years now. Michael has coordinated the scholarship side and I have coordinated the classes. We both have 4th graders who will be graduating from Irvington after 5th grade. This means that we will be leaving with them, leaving an opportunity for some new blood in the after school activities world! We are looking to find replacement volunteers for these roles by the end of this school year so that we can officially hand the job over next year. This would allow a whole year for the new folks to learn the job with us still around to advise, guide, help as needed. Ideally we could identify who will be taking over so they can “shadow” us this spring as we set up the final session for this school year.

So....Team up! Find a friend! This is a great volunteer opportunity for a couple of folks who enjoy working together to get more involved at Irvington. As a working mom, I found this job to be one of the volunteer jobs I could still do even though the time I have available is largely outside of the regular school day. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to work with Lisa Smith in the front office and other administrative staff at Irvington, as well as the teachers and parents who have contributed to our great after school program in so many ways. And managing the scholarship program is such a great opportunity to help ensure that all of our students have access to these great resources.

Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering or have questions for us. We’d be happy to talk to you more about the roles.

And just so you don’t forget after that little distraction - REGISTER for winter session NOW! 😊

Briggy Thomas and Michael Leeson.
