Hello everyone-
You're receiving this message because you are a current PTA member, or have participated in the past and are still an Irvington parent. We are currently unable to send this message through our principal due to PPS furlough, so please share with your parent/community circles.
Our PTA meeting is coming up on Monday. Here is the Zoom link-
We received 2 new proposals a few days ago. The board has decided that in light of Covid-19, based on direction from both Oregon and National PTAs, we would allow these proposals to come to the floor. Please read them and come prepared to vote. The files are attached.
They are both proposals to make financial contributions to both Boise-Eliot Humboldt and Martin Luther King Jr School PTAs. The difference in the 2 are the contribution amount.
Remember-YOU MUST BE A PAID MEMBER TO VOTE. As a non-profit organization, we have no choice but to pay dues to the state and national ptas. But, we do have an alternative in place if payment of dues is a barrier to participation for you. Please let us know if it is. As your PTA board, we understand that the PTA system in place at present is often times problematic and fraught with bureacracy. We can work together to work toward solutions within this system.
You can pay your dues online here- oregonpta.org/membership. Choose Irvington School and the dues will drop to $10. There is a $2.50 processing fee. You may also drop $10 cash or check made to Irvington PTA to Keli at 2526 NE 14th Ave.
On another note, over the last many years as a member of this community, I've been hearing conversations about PTA fundraising efforts in isolated parent groups. We cannot come to a consensus about our efforts, if we cannot have authentic conversations about these topics in the open. While we won't have time to dig deep at our meeting on Monday, it is my hope that you check out this podcast on the topic of PTA fundraising, with a variety of perspectives.
