Friends:
Now that school is starting, here is some information on national and
local resources for your gifted children. Please be sure to pass this
message on to other parents who are not on this list. Perhaps your
favorite principal will put it in the school newsletter or TAG
bulletin board.
Thank you,
Margaret
WEBSITES
The largest TAG website is the Hoagies site. If you don't see what you
are
looking for, try the site map
http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/
The Davidson Institute for Talent Development also has lots of
resources
for parents.
http://www.ditd.org/
Especially notable is its large library of articles
http://www.davidsongifted.org/db/
For Oregon information, try the Oregon Association for Talented and
Gifted
(OATAG) website at
http://www.oatag.org
Don't miss the OATAG conference, October 9th at beautiful Reed College
in Portland Oregon. The topic is "Is Giftedness really a Gift?"
Attending an OATAG conference changed my life!
Please help us to spread the word by sending the information out to
your
school e-mail lists, or asking your principal to put information in
your
school newsletter. The conference is open to anyone who is interested.
For
more information go to

For Portland parents, I have a website containing many more resources
at

LISTSERVS
The largest listserv for parents of gifted students is TAGFAM.
To subscribe send a mail message with "subscribe TAGFAM " in the body
(not
the subject) of the message to
list...@listserv.icors.org

your own first and last names for your-first-name your-last-name. Omit
the
quotation marks.
For parents statewide, OATAG has a discussion list on Yahoo. If you
already have a Yahoo username and password, you can just add this
group to
your list.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OATAG
You can also subscribe directly by e-mail by sending a message to
oatag-s...@yahoogroups.com
The message should read "subscribe".
For Portland area parents, there is also a Yahoo listserv: XL-PDX

TAGPDX.ORG, or add this list to your
Yahoo
