Boy Scout Resolution Regarding Gay Leaders

On Monday, February 11, 2013, at a regular meeting of the Irving Park Lutheran Church Council, correspondence was received from Mr. Elmer Haneberg, member of IPLC for many years and long-time Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 863, with related Cub Scout Pack 3863 and Venture Crew 2863. A copy of his letter is attached. In that letter, Mr. Haneberg refers to an email he had sent recently to the Boy Scouts of America, Chicago Area Chief Executive, Mr. H. Charles Dobbins, concerning the policy of the Boy Scouts of America that disallows persons who are homosexual to serve as leaders and volunteers. Mr. Haneberg included in his letter a resolution for the consideration of the Church Council.

Attached are copies of the letter to the congregation from the IPLC Church Council, a letter from Elmer Haneberg to Mr. Dobbins, Scout Executive Director/CEO, the letter from Elmer Haneberg to the Congregational Council and the Resolution concerning Boy Scout rechartering at Irving Park Lutheran Church.
