Event:    Badminton Showcase during the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration.

Location: In front of the Great Park Visitor Center Pavilion, Irvine.

Time:     Friday 5-9 pm, September 29, 2023.

The city of Irvine will showcase badminton in front of the Great Park Visitor Center Pavilion during the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at the Great Park on September 29, 2023.

This showcase is to promote the city's inaugural indoor badminton program. The community can find more information about this indoor badminton program at https://www.cityofirvine.org/racket-sports/badminton.  

Volunteers from the "Badminton in Irvine" team and badminton enthusiasts will be present for some demonstrations and to help answer any questions on badminton.  Ex-Chinese national singles player Zhu Yunyi and ex-USA national player and current Irvine Valley badminton instructor, Shannon Hsu will be available for a meet and greet.

The "Badminton in Irvine" volunteer group is committed to continue to work with the city to create more badminton programs for the community.

Current plans by the "Badminton in Irvine" volunteer group include:

a) Securing dedicated badminton courts at the upcoming Bill Barber Memorial Park gym

b) Youth badminton classes

Future plans may include:

a) Adult badminton classes

b) Adult badminton league

c) Assist high school students in the establishment of CIF teams/conference in Irvine.
