Aquino
Pros: Tama naman yung sinabi ni
Conrado De Quiros in his column nung inuurge niyang tumakbo si
Noynoy. It will take someone with his (or rather, his parents' and
sister's) popularity to beat the expected electoral fraud and
terrorism na gagawin nila GMA this May 2010. At para sa akin, ang #1
objective ng 2010 elections is to boot out GMA and her allies from
campaign ni Noynoy is someone who pledges to be un-GMAish, or
un-corrupt and nothing else. Napaka-unappealing ng ganun. At meron
rin siyang hints of being “GMAish”, tulad ng kanyang hostility
sa mga progressive at radical ideas, especially in regards to land
reform. Latest (rotten) cherry on top? He is for adding two more
years sa primary education, instead of maximizing the existing years
of primary educ.
Delos Reyes
Pros: This is one candidate that
you can bet will stay clean if he gets elected.
Cons: I'm saying this because I'm
sure he will never be elected. Not unless some freak accident wipes
out all the other presidentiables. Besides, he is one of the two
presidentiables who will most likely attack the doctrine of
separation of church and state. Ngayon pa lang, gusto na nilang
iimpose yung Church doctrine on birth control.
Gordon
Pros: After Gibo, he is the most
articulate and eloquent candidate. At siya ay isang
“God-is-in-the- details” person. Ayos yun sa akin, no to
motherhood statements. And yes, we have to admit that Subic is a
testament to his brand of leadership.
Cons: I have misgivings about his
ideological bent.
kanyang lugar “economically”. And it reflects on his economic
platform now: reliance on foreign factors sa pag-unlad. Nakakatakot
rin na he has chosen to run with a notorious strong-man like Bayani.
Not someone you'd run with if you were a firm believer in individual
rights.
Madrigal
Pros: This may surprise you, but I
liked Jamby's stands on issues the most.
GRP-NDF at GRP-MILF. Against siya sa Visiting Forces Agreement at
Japan-Phils. Econ. Partnership Agreement. Para sa akin, siya ang
present equivalent ng the late Claro M. Recto o Lorenzo Tanada,
minus her eccentricities.
Cons: I don't think she's in the
race to win. She's there to spite Villar.
Teodoro
Pros: Totoo, he is among the more
(if not the most) eloquent and articulate of all the
presidentiables. Malinaw ang kanyang mga binabanggit na programs,
policies, and stands on most (not all) issues.
Cons: Dahil nga malinaw siya,
malinaw rin ang mga cons niya. Isa dun ay “more military
agreements” with the U.S. More abuses
committed by U.S troops on “war exercises”, more funds for a
military that arrests health workers. Isa pa ay ang kanyang pledge
to “open up the economy”, or an extension of GMA's economic
policy: gawing attractive ang bansa at all costs, even to the
detriment of the common Filipino. Displace indigenous peoples from
their ancestral homes to make way for mining companies. Keep wages
attractively low and “discourage” unions. And the only time na
One of his very
first statements when he announced his intention to run was that he
would not actively pursue criminal charges against GMA.
Villanueva
Villar
Pros:
He has made a few significant concessions in terms ng pagiging
progressive/ radical. Isa na dun ay yung pag-support sa 11-year old
na legislated P125 wage hike. No one else has dared touch that issue
except Chiz. Isa pa ay yung pag-review (and hopefully pag-scrap) sa
Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program. First step yan sa pag-achieve
Very close sa
aking puso yang tatlong isyu na yan.
Cons:
E sino nga bang naniniwalang tunay na mahirap yan? Sa commercials pa
lang, alam na e. Totoo ang argument na all high gov't officials are
corrupt. Pero that makes him “King of the Hill”. Besides, there
is still the rumor na he is GMA's secret candidate. And while that
may come from the Noynoy camp, I'm not totally discounting that
rumor.
