Dear All,

A paper with title “Productive usage of biomass” is added to the Group
FILES. This paper briefly explains how locally available biomass could
be utilized for maximum value addition in widely distributed
production base near the end product consumption centers. These
methods are eligible for carbon credits for using the renewable
biomass and also sequestration of carbon present in biomass.

Hi,
Thank you for loading interesting article “Productive usage of
biomass” in ‘Files’

India produces nearly 750 million tons of inedible biomass which is
wasted or used inefficiently without imparting optimum value addition.
Two tons of dry biomass can produce one ton of bio-oil. It also
produces 20% (400 kg) charcoal as by product. If one year’s oil import
bill (50 billion $) is invested on bio-oils production infrastructure,
India can become self sufficient in oil sector. Bio oil production
cost is Rs 10,000 per ton when the cost of dry biomass is Rs 2500 per
ton

If India utilizes all its biomass resources for producing bio-oils by
pyrolysis process, bio-oil exports can be twice its present crude oil
imports after meeting its requirements fully. The charcoal produced
(150 million tons with 7500 Kcal/kg) is nearly equivalent to coal
consumed by its coal fired thermal stations.
