date stamp in iRODS log file

Hello,
Just a very quick question. Is it possible to configure iRODS to output
to the iRODS log file the year as well as the month and day?

Hi Adil,

I don't think there's a way to configure that.  But instead of adding that, you might want to just get the full date and log it once when the server starts up, so you don't consume lots of space with redundant information on each line.

Hi Samuel,

Nothing has changed with the logging infrastructure, yet.

There will be a refactoring for iRODS 4.3.

We're soliciting input on modern header-only C++ logging libraries.

We would love to have a release before the next user group meeting in June 2018.   But this is not a hard deadline.

Generally, 4.3 will include this logging refactoring and a new irodsMonitor process that will be capable of reporting more about the system as a whole.  The remaining list of items will include the backlog of items already listed at GitHub.  Mostly, the list reflects the priorities of the Consortium membership.  If that changes/expands, of course, we'll update the list accordingly.   https://github.com/irods/irods/milestone/16
