Hi All

I have iRODS 4.0.3

Month ago I was able to configure and start the server successfully and execute commands. But now I try to start the server and I get the "iRODS server failed to start"

In logs file I don't have new messages (in /var/lib/irods/iRODS/server/log).

In /var/log/messages I got:

irodsServer[11046]: segfault at 40 ip 000000000052b23e sp 00007fff369b0260 error 4 in irodsServer[400000+4a5000]

looks bad... :(

The postgresql is running.

also get errors like this (obious because the server is down..):

ERROR: _rcConnect: connectToRhost error, server on opesudat02.bsc.es:1247 is probably down status = -305111 USER_SOCK_CONNECT_ERR, Connection refused

where can I get more logs to figure out what is happening? what can i do?

thanks in advance.

Hi Marcel,

I think you said this, but want to confirm...

Is there anything in the /var/lib/irods/iRODS/server/log/rodsLog.* file(s)?

Can you make sure there are no other irodsServer or related processes running?

If you're still testing/configuring, I suggest beginning again with 4.1.8.

Terrell

Hi Terrell

There is no other process running.

I found logs in an old log file in /server/log, (I looked only into the newest file...) I see this:

Can you confirm your database credentials and connection are good - outside of iRODS (just use psql)?

If the database is not available, nothing will come up.

Excellent.

I notice that the setup sequence mentions the boot environment. This means you're still on 4.0.3 - you'll be much happier with 4.1.8.
