irods version upgrade

Dear iRODS Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently using iRODS version 4.2.8 and would like to upgrade to version 4.3.2. Could you please advise me on which repository to use for this upgrade?

Additionally, I would like to know if there are any changes required in the iRODS configuration files during or after this upgrade process.

Furthermore, should I also consider upgrading any related packages such as iRODS-icommands, iRODS-runtime, or others?

Hi Kovid,

Before you upgrade, make sure you've backed up your data.

Consider setting up a test environment and going through the upgrade process so you know what to expect. The irods_testing_environment project makes doing that very easy.

It's not clear to me what you mean by repository to use. Upgrades only require that you install the packages and start the server. Starting the server will auto-detect versions and apply the necessary changes for you.

There are a large number of changes between 4.2.8 and 4.3.2. Please see the release notes for specific details. All iRODS versions are covered on the following link:

One change to be aware of is the move to syslog for logging. See the following page for details.

Yes. You should always upgrade the iRODS packages to the same version.
