Hi ,

I am reaching out to inquire if there is a method to copy not only the files but also the associated metadata from iRODS to S3. We are looking to ensure that all relevant information is preserved during the transfer process.

If there are specific tools or commands that facilitate this, I would greatly appreciate your guidance or any documentation you could share.

Thanks
Kovid

The metadata is stored in iRODS and is stored at the data object level so if the S3 object is just a replica it will share the same metadata.

If you are talking about copying iRODS metadata into S3 as user-defined metadata (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/userguide/UsingMetadata.html), we do not provide that functionality but it is possible that someone in the community has done something like that.
