Dear all,

We have 3 instances of iRODS federated together. ICAT1 and ICAT2 are version 4.2.8 and ICAT3 is version 4.2.10 and was added to our federation a couple of weeks ago.

Trying icp  of a file from ICAT3 to ICAT1 or ICAT2 works however icp from ICAT1 or ICAT2 to ICAT3 fails with error:
status = -13000 status = -13000 SYS_NO_API_PRIV.
I see the following in the ICAT3 logs:
Nov 11 12:00:16 pid:4253 NOTICE: rsApiHandler: User has no permission for apiNumber 671
Nov 11 12:00:16 pid:4253 WARNING: No replica access token in L1 descriptor. Ignoring replica access table.

I saw a github issue similar to what I am seeing: https://github.com/irods/irods/issues/5894
That was closed on October 8 and our ICAT3 was deployed on October 11th from https://packages.irods.org/apt/

Is it possible that the fix was not yet there in the official packages ?
If yes, is there a way around this issue that we could do without having to redeploy iRODS 4.2.10 on ICAT3.

Best regards
Mohamad

Hi Mohamad,

The issue you found, https://github.com/irods/irods/issues/5894, is exactly the problem you're seeing.

It was a result of an earlier workaround for how data was finalized in the catalog... which is no longer needed since 4.2.9.  Removing that workaround makes things behave as expected.

The fix is already merged and will be part of 4.2.11.     We expect that out by the end of the year.

If you just deployed ICAT3, the easiest thing may be to redeploy ICAT3 as 4.2.8 until 4.2.11 is released.   Alternatively, you could upgrade the other two (ICAT1 and ICAT2) to 4.2.10 as well.

Terrell
