I am hoping someone can confirm or deny this for me.

Years ago I bought a Create2 and cut into the cable to get power to my Raspberry Pi (with a power converter, of course). The cable that came with my Create2 did not have the power wires connected in the robot connector. All the other wires were connected. I cut the cable close to the connector and pulled on the power wires. They pulled right out ... not connected. The other wires were tightly connected.

I ordered a new cable from Adafruit, and it works fine.

Are all the serial cables from iRobot wired this way? It might be on purpose to prevent the novice experimenter from getting at the 14V?

Or did I just happen to get a dud cable?

I bought one a few months ago, and it does provide power.

Ah! Good to know! Maybe they changed the design or maybe I had a bad cable. Thanks for the info.
