Create 2 conversion to vacuum and warranty question

Hi All,

I won a Create2 a couple years ago in a hackathon and I haven't gotten around to breaking it out until today. Looking forward to playing with it, and I hope people still check out this group!

I was actually thinking of converting it back into a vacuum, just for general purposes when I'm not using it for hacking. Based on this answer, it looks like Irobot Create2 is just the stripped down version of the 600 series roomba. Is this correct? If so, if I buy the enhanced cleaning head for the Roomba 600 series and replace it with what the Create2 comes with (and buy the sidebrushes) will the create function exactly as a roomba? 

It seems to already come with a filter, and I thought that I might just be able to buy the brush kit since the current cleaning head module on the Create2 has a working motor hooked up to it. Alas, I checked it out and the cleaning head on the roombas seem more complicated so I'll have to splurge and buy the head set!

I also realized upon opening that the left wheel module's spring holder was broken (see attached photo). Have people had success getting parts that were broken on arrival replaced for free? It's brand new and the only thing I've opened is the robot itself.
