I have made robotic "ghosts". A work of art. The irobot is contained in a "tray" and rotates continuously. Problem is,
I want them on carpet so the wheels don't wear out, but they don't like the carpet. They work on the wood surface but that seems to wear rubber off the wheels and the rear wheels scrape the surface of the wood, which is also going to wear them out.
Anyone have any ideas?
Is anyone out there in Toronto,Ontario Canada who wants to see this? Let me know.
Thanks,
I Create Art

The rubber tires won't wear out unless you are using a very abrasive surface... If you are that worried put a sheet of Plexiglas (Home Depot sells it) on your platforms... Nice smooth surface....

What do you mean they don't like the carpet?  Roombas are made for carpet so that's a bit surprising.

The only thing I can think of is that the carpet you are using is very dark.  This messes up the drop sensors on the Roomba as lack of light reflection makes the Roomba think it's going to go over a ledge.  Try short, light (white is best) carpet.
