As you all are aware, we had the 2 incidents at the club, and an emergency general meeting was held at Peter Morey’s house on Wednesday night. +/- 30 Members attended the meeting, and I had Proxy votes from another 5 members.
Various options regarding our safety was discussed, and the mandate given to me was to secure armed guard from 9am -6pm on week-end days. It was estimated that it wil cost in the region of R 5 000.00 per month, that equals to R 60 000.00 per year, divided by 100 members equals an additional annual cost of R 600.00 per member.
This is a temporary measure, and there are various other options being investigated. Unfortunately, this takes tame.
A motion was then put on the table to request an additional R 200.00 per member for the balance of this year, and was accepted by all. So everybody have to cough up R 200 to ensure our safety. Some members already made their payments. Fellow members please pay your extra R 200.00 fees as soon as possible, to enable us to implement the tempory measures.
I have just concluded an agreement with Nico Coetzee from Safeguard Support Systems for one armed security guard and one unarmed security guard on week-ends from 9am – 6 pm for +/- R 6000.00 per month.
The members at the meeting empowered me to conclude a deal up to R 5 500.00 per month, but the only security company willing to accept the contract charges us R 6000.00 per month for their services so the committee decided to go ahead as a temporary measure.
The guards will be there tomorrow at 9 am.
