A few things:

A. Remember who/what the UN Security Council consists of. And remember
who is the virtual boss there.

B. Had they withdrawn, the country would have been rendered in a state
of absolute chaos which is even worse than the one it's already in.
The first couple of times the SC voted to keep coalition forces in
Iraq, we didn't even have a proper government, let alone an army,
police force or any other form of force to maintain national
security...and it really isn't better now is it?!

C. I don't see Iraqis settling their differences down just because
coalition forces left. Iraqi politics are based on maintaining and
profounding the differences amongst Iraqis. This is the one and the
only way for any political party there is to exist. And as long as
there are political parties, there are followerd...which happen to be
"people"

D. I don't see organizations such as Al-Qaeda leaving Iraq either.
They want to establish an Islamic State, regardless of who/what's
supposed to be or is actually governing Iraq.

E. Curiously though, who did all these surveys?! I think they left out
a huuuge chunk of our population that follows el sayid, or whatever
their religious/ethnic idol happens to be. BLINDLY.

F. Get real. Iraq will always be controlled by other than Iraqis, if
not by force then it will always be on the leash; economically and
politically, and no amount of talk will change that. Maybe in a
perfect little world where unselfish, perfect little people live, that
would aaall be true and we'll be a happy nation. But again...get real.

E. Iraq's a wonderful platform for all sorts of imported mercs to make
good money. Weapon trade too. Transit point for all sorts of lowlives.
Are you going to ward them off yourself? Got a plan?! Them, alongside
Al-Qaeda?!

G. Finally...it's highly beneficial for many of our "friendly"
neighbors that Iraq's in a state of chaos. Keeps some eyes off, and
keeps Americans from taking real action, for fear of expanding their
"front".

Come up with a plan first, as to how to go about things. Otherwise
it's all easier said than done. Oh, and being a patriot and being
realistic aren't separate. I'm not sure where you'd fit, but it sure
isn't the realistic bunch.
