Hi Team,

We are scheduled for the Vex Scrimmage @ BU this coming Saturday, but are not quite mobile with either robot, so we are going to have an optional working session tomorrow from 6-8 in addition to our regular Thursday session.

If available, come by ready to work.

See you there,
  Peter

Hi Peter and Gary:

Can someone forward information about the Saturday event?   We do not have any details and would like to inform all students.

Thank you.

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for the reminder.   Details below from Gary.  We should confirm on drivers and schedule during the regular Thursday meeting.   This is contingent on having at least 1 working robot.

( I suppose in a pinch last year's bot could push some parts around ... but I don't think this team would resort to that!  )

Thanks,
  Peter

"The event will take place in the Sargent Activity Center at Boston University which is at 1 University Rd., Boston MA.

You can park in the BU Academy lot, or the Upper Bridge Lot.  Parking costs $12/car.  They take cash only.  There is also area street parking.  We cannot accommodate buses in the lot. If you are bringing a bus, you can use the MBTA bus-stop for live drop-off only.

The BU Academy door next to the parking lot will probably be locked, so you will have to walk down University Rd. to the Sargent Activity Center entrance.

You can find information on parking and directions on our website at http://www.bu.edu/bufirst/tournaments/

We will have some light refreshments for sale, but given the early nature, we will not be serving lunch.  There is a Food Court right across the street in the B.U. George Sherman Union.

I want to run matches will between 9:00 AM and 12 noon.  Doors officially open at 8AM, but we will try to have them open by 7:15

We will start the matches as soon as all teams can make it through inspection.
Please make sure that your robot has the most up to date firmware.
We will be slightly lenient with inspections, only because we want the kids to know what is wrong and what they need to do to improve and succeed. But the robots need to be safe and follow the rules.  And the firmware needs to run.

If we can run 4 matches/hour then in 3 hours we will have 12 matches. We have about 16 teams registered.  That means each team will have 3 matches.

If each school can have a couple students volunteer to help with resetting the field, we will be able to cycle the matches all that quicker.  If we can get things to cycle quicker, I would love to get in 4 matches.

The most important thing is to remember that this is a non-competitive event.  A chance for our students to get used to trying out their robots with real refs.  If anything, this is a great chance for your students to find our where things are going to go wrong.  It is a great chance to make mistakes.  I like to call it "failing forward."
