Hi All,

Is it possible to use Informatica for Sybase IQ Bulk load [ External
Loader feature ] , without exposing user name and password in
connection string.

Example for connection string :
uid=dba;pwd=sql;eng=IQServerName;links=tcpip(host=IQHostMachineName;port=2638)

We don't want to disclose the user name and password to Informtica
ETL users for security reasons.

We need Informtica Sybase IQ Bulk load feature as well.

Appreciating your valuable inputs.

Hi Satish

I have never worked with Informatica, but the format of the connection string in your example looks just like a regular IQ connection string, I suppose that there is nothing Informatica-specific here. If so, you can specify ODBC alias (dsn) instead, then user/password information will be stored in ODBC alias definitions and will not be exposed to Informatica directly. You can use ODBC both on Windows and Unix/Linux.

Hope it helps

Hi Leonid ,

Even I am new to informatica , I don’t find any ODBC connection options for External Loader feature [ bulk load]  in Informatica.

Thank you for your reply and consideration. Looking for more alternatives / work around  .

Regards ,

There is a whitepaper that describes how to make it work at:

There is an updated whitepaper that will outline further details of fixing Informatica’s lack of full support for parallel loads.  This is expected out shortly.

My concern is using Informatica - External Loader Feature without exposing user name and password in connection string.

This below whitepaper is using connection string with user name and password in External Loader.

Is there any alternative in External Loader feature of informatica , so i no need to disclose user name and password to Informatica ETL users.

Appreciating your response.

Regards ,

Sathish J
