IQ 16 partition

Hi,

 

We are migrating from IQ15 to IQ16, however, we didn't partition table in IQ 15.  We wonder if we can use alter table xxx partition by range.... command to partition the table, however, when I tried out the command, it says all rows must be in the first partition.  I wonder if there is anyway, we can split our current table into monthly partitions.
