Hi all,

Hope you can help us..

We are having issues running the same report using ReportMart -- it produces the same report in different sequence when run against two version of IQ – IQ 12.7 and IQ 15.4 on two different Windows Server 64bit platform

Anyone encountered this before?

Thanks and all the best for the season!

I had the same issue after moving from 12.7 to 15.1. 15.1 returned less rows than 12.7.  In my case the problem was solved by dropping HG index on the table. Unfortunately,  I don't remember all details - it was 3-4 years ago.
I would suggest to open a case with Sybase - they probably  have it in solved cases.

Hi Jun

Just to be sure - does your query contain the ORDER BY clause?
I'm asking because I saw a number of cases related to Sybase ASE when people were run queries without explicit ORDER BY clause for years and were very surprised when their queries stopped working as expected after the upgrade of ASE version or changing of some table attributes, such as lock scheme.

Also, which version returns the correct result - 12.7 or 15.4? Did the query plan change between the versions?

Hope it helps
Leonid Gvirtz

Thanks Leonid.

Yes, the query’s got a couple of columns in the ORDER BY clause.  Both results were correct but the rows/lines were ordered differently (although I should say the sequence came out as per ORDER BY but the row/lines under the sequence came out differently) but is correct – no missing lines and totals are correct.  Hope I make any sense.

Regards
