Recognising & celebrating innovative action based Social Science Research in Development & Governance in North East India

Nominations are invited for ‘SCHOLL Research Challenge 2010’. Nominations are invited from young and bright researchers who are into high caliber action based research in development and governance thematic areas within the larger social science research domain. Papers / case studies having practical, policy & programme impact in addressing development and governance challenges in the region are welcome. Papers / case studies must have either demonstrated an idea or topic having practical relevance, or demonstrated or highlighted an already existing case example and submitting the same in the framework of theory & practice.

Nominations are open from September 1, 2010 to November 15, 2010.

 

 

About SCHOLL Research Challenge

The SCHOLL Research Challenge 2010 recognizes high caliber research, in twin areas of development and governance that has had or have potential for demonstrated impact on policy or society at large, has contributed or contribute to the efforts in scaling up development and governance practices in policy settings, or programme implementation.

The Research Awards will be given to the submission that best demonstrates the impact of research on decision-making within – and understanding of the issues relating to – the public policy and/or dev elopement arena and research impact on programme implementation.  The jury will be also looking for sound case studies which show a strong connection between the research and the outcomes.  

 

Categories

Research Awards will be given in six key thematic areas namely,

1.        Macro & Micro Economic growth  & Management     

2.        Education & Human Resource Development    

3.        Technology for development & Innovative Solutions ( including rural technology & Information Communication Technology)

4.        Good Governance practice including e-Governance & public service delivery

5.        Sustainable Development & Preserving the Ecosystem

6.        Livelihood & Enterprise Development 


 

Eligibility

  SRC 2010 is open to researchers from North East and other parts of India who are into research activities focused on North East India

  To win this Awards any submission must show that the research is based on sound technique and method

  Submissions need to clearly demonstrate how the research has contributed to decision-making and/or the issues involved.

  Age : Maximum age limit 40 years

  Entries are welcomed from individuals and/ or group submissions

 

Submission Guidelines

  Research papers: to be submitted neatly typed in soft copy – 8 to 10 pages maximum with 1.5 spacing in times new roman 12 sized font

   Proper footnotes and endnotes with bibliography has to be placed in appropriate sections and context 

  Diagrams, charts, figures need to be added wherever necessary to qualify text and research points

  Word limit : 5000

 

Nomination / Submission Requirements

   Cover page ;

  Support letter of nomination from two heads of academic institutions / recognized, public agencies in social research and activities;

  Curriculum vitae of nominee;

  Evidence of the candidate’s research activities over a period of approximately 1-3 years;

  Proof of Age;

 

 Final Awards

  Selected papers will be given a cash award along with medal and certificate of honour.

  There will likely be 4 non-cash jury awards recognizing special initiatives

 

SCHOLL Research Conclave 2010

  The SCHOLL Research Conclave 2010 will coincide with SCHOLL Research Awards 2010

  The Research Conclave will be a one day deliberations on theory and practice of development and governance research within larger social science research domain

  The Conclave will culminate in the SCHOLL Research Awards 2010 evening.

  Nomination for entries opens from: September 1, 2010

  Last date for submission of papers: November 15, 2010

  Grand Jury : November 24, 2010

  Final event with a full day research conference followed by evening ceremony: December 2, 2010 ; Venue (to be decided shortly)
