That was an interesting study in knowing your constituency.  Around here, his plate would have signaled viewers to pay no attention to this old blowhard.  But if most voters in his territory eat what he likes....lots of sausages fried in butter....he could be "one of us."  His wife's attitude toward him seems to suggest that she is sooooo tired of this guy.  Yet, there's that hint of almost father-daughter bond, too.  And she's still there after a very long time.  Looks to me like validation for the old saw about all politics is local.  Geography more important than philosophy.
