Have enjoyed your posts, Brian.  Like Larry, I see legitimacy as residing in the eye of the pronouncer. So then we migrate to the question of which pronouncers matter?  Trump has been pronounced illegit, but not by those with the power to remove him.  IMO, what most critics despise about Trump is how different he dares be — too many standard deviations from any norm.  But different is not the same as illegitimate.  

We coastal blue staters like to admire our own sophisticated talent for “dealing with difference.”  Well, now you’ve really got some seriously challenging difference.  Deal with it.
